Can't get drivers to update

I install new drivers, yet its always drivers that are month's old that are reported. Why? They've not updating on my machine or my son's. We both had relatively older cards (3800 series my son's a 4800 series). Now that I mention it, mine no longer even have the AMD drivers!!!
 
Okay, just got 12.10 reinstalled but half of the info in CC is not there (like "Information" and most of the settings). Starting to really hate AMD.
 
If you have installed 12.10 on a HD 4800 or 3800 card, you have installed the wrong driver. Latest driver (these are legacy cards with legacy support) is 12.6 for these cards. Which OS are you using?
 
Win7 64 bit. They sure have their customers on a hook if they can drop support in a year or two.
 
Got anther question, how do you know which are display drivers and which are motherboard drivers using CC? They look identical and I can't see anything that would tell them apart by their name.

Motherboard drivers are not included in the driver pack, only GPU drivers. What motherboard do you have?
 
One with AMD drivers....they are included...when I removed the 12.10 drivers, many of my motherboard drivers when it it. But they came back with 12.6. My son's board (an Intel one) suffered a worse fate. The uninstall just keeps getting stuck and won't go forward.

The 4800 and 3800 series are 4 and 5 years old, respectively. They're legacy parts and now receive legacy support. I'm not even sure how you got the 12.10 driver or how it actually installed. When you go to AMD's site and enter in these cards they clearly point you to the 12.6 driver.

When you're setting up an OS it's still important to install chipset/motherboard drivers before video drivers. Make sure when you re-install drivers that you're installing the motherboard's first, then the video.

AMD has an express uninstall utility that will uninstall all AMD drivers on the system. Have you tried that for your son's computer? If not, you might have to manually remove it using DriverSweeper as the 12.10 uninstaller isn't configured to support your hardware.
