Alright, I just installed OS and stuff on my new WD 74 GB Raptor. I installed the 4.5 cats fresh off and also Rage3d tweak. For some reason AGP is defaulting to "off", and when I set it to 8x it will just re-set itself to off when I boot. What is going on?

i dont think there is a way to enable/disable it in the P4C800-E deluxe bios, but I'll check. Maybe it's a conflict or something cause I have Rage3d and Ultramon, but neither of those have their own controls for my AGP speed...

i checked my BIOS and my AGP VDDQ voltage is set to 1.5..... could that be the reason it wont do 8x? Should I set it higher? And if so, how high?? It seems like a lack of voltage could cause it to hesitate going for that high of bus transfer rates... but I aint a wizard

you need to install the Intel inf driver for your chipset/mobo.

Yup, every time you install a fresh OS on a PC you need to download and install all drivers for the motherboard. It's the first thing I do after getting into windows on all my PC's.

I had the same problem. Install your motherboard graphic drivers (for my Asus E-Deluxe it was my GART driver from nVidia). Fixed everything right up. Good luck!

When I first got my 8500 I ran it at AGP 2x for about 2 months. Then I ran 3dmark and got really bad numbers so I started fishing around to figure out why and eventually was told the same thing...

Everyone has too learn this at some point and it's just a matter of chance whether you turn out to be one of the one who has to ask the question on a board like this or if you are one of the lucky ones who reads a thread like this and never has to ask.
