2Gb corsair 3200 value 3-3-3-8
Asus P4GPL-X

I first ran 2 instances of SuperPi just for checking, all fine, oced the fsb, in 5 step, to 225, when it failed to get to windows, down to 220, and all looked fine, but super pi failed to run 2 instances, the second gets the Not convergent in sqr05.

I then lowered all to stock speeds, and still get the same problem :\
even loosed the mem timmings from SPD to 3-4-4-8, still the 2nd instance not convergent

Something broke?

ps:higher temps were 50*c

maybe Hyper Threading failed at the speeds/temps you had.
Try disabling it to check.

I'm @ stock speeds now, Hyper Threading still works, tryied with and without it.
But can only get 1 super pi instance running, the 2nd gets the "not convergent in sqr05" error.

Weird...I've never actually tried to use SuperPi to detect hardware issues/failures, but I wonder if it's able to stress your CPU enough to show a fault when it "errors out" immediately after starting to run the second instance.

Are you able to try doing anything else to stress it? Try Sandra Burn in or SP2004.

I made it run Prime95 stress test for about 3 hours with no problems,
gamed for 4 or so hours, and all as usual.

I'm assuming you created two separate folders for SuperPI correct? If not, you need to do so and run each shortcut separately. What happens is if you double click SuperPI to load twice (from the same icon) the initial data is overwitten by the "second running instance." Therefore, what was correct for the first core, or HT in your case, is now being overwritten with the second core's info...and it throws out an error. Remember, there's a little .txt file that's keeping all of the data.

Make 2 folders, run two separate .exe's and try again. Then it should work for you.

This has happened to me and you have to clear cmos and then start again.

You will keep on getting wrong figures until you dont.

Ok, a post like that requires a logical explanation...Why would clearing the CMOS help SuperPI run the way it's supposed to? I'm not trying to flame here, but that post does not make any sense at all...

I've never had to create two seperate folders for SuperPi...it has always worked just running it twice from the same executable with dual and single core processors. Prime95 is the only stress-test I've seen not load/work quite right if you don't have two seperate folders/exe's to use.

At this point anything is worth a shot...resetting CMOS doesn't take much time...but realistically, just run two copies of Prime95 or SP2004for how ever many hours to determine system stability and just run one copy of SuperPi as a benchmark. The 32M test isn't really a long enough test to tell you how stable your OC/system is anyways, so worst case scenario it shouldn't matter THAT much if this keeps happening, as long as you can run dual prime just fine.

Hmm i thought of that, but ruled it out bc the first times I made it work with the same executable. It must have been due to some strange coincidence that made it work then
I copied a 2nd SuperPi and it works fine :D

I dont use SuperPi to stress test my cpu, for that I use Prime 95 and gamming for now.
It's just that SuperPi wasn't running ok and I got alarmed.

thx all for the input.

Good to hear it's working, weird that you had to use the seperate executable, but as long as it works it works.
