Hi everybody.
I have a really annoying problem with emule for a while - i allways get a low id no matter what i do.
I have forwarded ports in my router (edimax BR-6204wg) using "Virtual Server".
emule's "check ports" shows me TCP is open, but the UDP is closed for some reason.
even after i checked "open ports with UPNP" (and after enabling this option in the router) i get this:
Code:
22/07/2009 19:29:49: UPnP successfully set up forwardings for ports xxxxx (TCP) and yyyyy (UDP)

22/07/2009 19:30:01: Connecting to Pirate Bay 2145 (89.248.172.225:5323)...
22/07/2009 19:30:01: Connected to Pirate Bay 2145 (89.248.172.225:5323), sending login request
22/07/2009 19:30:01: Warning Pirate Bay 2145 (89.248.172.225:5323) - No answer from your xxxxx port. Please review your network config.
How can it be?!?

And the KAD is also closed:
Code:
Kad Network
Status:	Firewalled
UDP Status:	Firewalled
IP:Port:	aa.bbb.218.233:yyyyy
ID:	1416485609
Buddy:	None

By the way i have no firewall (the Windows's built in is disabled).

Thanks in advance.

Your ISP is blocking them?

this is what i would think as well.

also the thought of allowing applications to open ports on my network as they please via upnp makes me want to puke but i guess thats another topic.

Yes but i enabled the UPNP just because everything else didnt work, and i also just tried it to see if it helps, i dont keep it enable.

And about the ISP - i thought so, but i just wanted to make sure. Thanks for telling me that, now i am definitely going to change to another ISP...
But anyway, isn't there a way to make sure the ISP blocks the ports? you dont think they will tell me that if i call them do you?

EDIT:
I thought about it - how can the ISP really know what ports i am using for emule? I choose high numbered ports (bigger than 20,000) and i change them from time to time, and i also use Obfuscation. So how do they know?

you can use shieldsup on grc.com to check if a port is open or not.

not sure on the last question though, alltough iirc emule has a default port which it uses to negociate(spelling?) the ports to be used in your transfer range? technically they would only have to block this port which would give you a high ID ( im not 100% on this though, been a good few years since i used mule.)

I checked the ports with GRC and with this port tester http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ - and the results are same - TCP open and UDP closed.

sc0tty8, you really think they could tell how emule's traffic look like? anyway i use Obfuscation as i say, so i dont understand what's the point of that.

Users who cannot be reached from the outside because they are firewalled, behind a NAT device that has not been correctly port forwarded or their IP address ends with a zero (e.g. 123.45.67.0)[2] get a "Low ID" from the servers.

Next, I see from the portfoward.com article on your router, here, that "To setup port forwarding on this router your computer needs to have a static ip address." That may be your sticking point, so follow their static IP guide, here.
