Is the Thankpad running? I am using the exact laptop. It cannot be running without the cmos battery plugged in. Unless some one connected the battery to the motherboard directly. This way we can buy a battery from Circuit City for about $2.50 instead of over ten dollars. (I did it to mine !!)
Yes it runs, i took it to a small laptop buisness and they were going to charge me 25 bucks, having had one of these before( had a yellow cmos in it) i figured a 5 dollar part that i could put in. Im not real good with laptops. so could i still do this and if i could how to do it. Step by step would be nice to find out where it is and how to do it.
The CMOS battery is plugged in that white thing on the right hand side of the top picture. If your thinkpad is running normally, it must be connected to the motherboard. After you remove the screws at the bottom, you can remove the keyboard. I have done it many times. But be careful when you remove the keyboard. Look inside around that location. You will find a nickel size CMOS battery. It uses CR2025 battery. Good luck.
