Can't enable SLI

I'm using two eVGA Nvidia 6800 ultra's, on the ASUS A8N-SLI mobo. I've got the EZ selector card set to dual cards, and I've got the bridge between the two cards.

I've also got my monitor hooked up to the default card (blue PCI-E slot).

However, no matter what I do I get this error message:

Anyone know how to fix this?
 
Have you tried hooking your monitor up to the other card just for kicks? Was that part of "no matter what I do"?

I understand that you should have it in the correct slot already, but I don't think it could hurt to try it the other way around.

Also had the same error with the Version 44.2 drivers that came with the cards. Thats why I updated the drivers, thought that might've been the reason.
 
That isn't an error message, SLI can only run with a single monitor so if you have multiple monitors (i.e. ones attached to any port other than the primary output on the first card) than only the one monitor will display anything. When SLI is off then you can use up to four monitors. Hopefully nVidia will fix this.

So to recap:

SLI Enabled = 1 monitor
SLI Disabled = 1-4 monitors

That's just how it works for now.

The message is pretty clear if you read it carefully. Any displays connected to the "secondary" card will become blank. No dual monitor SLI, sorry.
 
I realize that, but everytime I click "OK" it un-checks the ENable SLI option. So no matter what I do I can't get SLI enabled.
 
Only other thing I can think of is that the video cards are running different BIOSes.
 
I had this error myself... I had it only right after installing the drivers... with my monitor...

My monitor is an AE700U Projector.... for whatever reason it was registering it as a monitor..

I switch it to my normal lcd enabled SLI just fine, restarted, disconnected my lcd, reconnected my projector and everything worked.

Edit: BTW... What is your "monitor"? I'm curious if it's something like a 16:9 aspect that's throwing off nVidia. I'm also using DVI -> HDMI... are you?

Are you suggesting I try a different monitor?
