Can't enable GPU scaling

For the past few days I've been playing GTA IV at 1680x1050 even though my monitor's native resolution is 1920x1200. Everything was going fine, then today I fired the game up and the image was pushed into the top left corner and I had black borders on the bottom and right side.

I remembered that there was a scaling option in the ATi control panel so I went in, but much to my chagrin it's not there. What bugs me is that everything was working fine, I didn't change anything, but for some reason it just stopped scaling the resolution today.

On my Control Panel the whole "Image Scaling" section isn't even there.

How can I get this to go back to the way it was? I'm using Windows 7 and the latest drivers, and like I said, everything was fine a couple days ago, yet I fire up the game today and get this and now I have no way to get it to go back. I also tested UT3 and if I bump the resolution down it does the same thing.
 
Try either turning your monitor off/on, or unhooking the power to your monitor and then hooking it back up.

Sounds to me like your monitor isn't detecting the resolution change from desktop to game.
 
Are you plugged into your monitor with DVI/HDMI? GPU scaling is not available over VGA.

That said, gpu scaling looks much better than the scaling your monitor may try to do, so it's definitely better to set your monitor to 1:1 and use gpu scaling if you're going to run non-native resolutions.

DVI.

And yeah, the GPU scaling was nice until it stopped working and there's no options for it in the Control Panel.

I found another post mentioning it on another forum. Another guy with the CAT 9.3's and Windows 7 who has no options for GPU scaling. I'm going to assume it's a pretty common issue.

I guess maybe I should install an older driver.
