I just ordered I new PC through newegg and am trying to narrow down a problem with it. Everything seemed to assemble properly (I didn't have any issues) and when givin power everything spins/lights up as it should. However, when the bios gets to testing for IDE's it won't find any, even though I have an 80gb WD attached with the proper cable. It just stalls at 'detecting ide drives...' and I can not access the bios settings or anything. If I disconnect the drive and reboot I can access the bios fine, change/save settings, etc and then even get passed it (havnt tried to boot off of a disc yet, but I assume I probably could).
I have tried switching out the drive for another and switching the ide cable but still have the same issue. I am starting to think maybe it's a werid bios option or something but everything seems to be fine (both ide channels are enabled and setup properly, etc).
So, anyone have any ideas? I really want to narrow this down to see which part if any I need to RMA. Thanks in advance for any help.
Specs:
Shuttle AN35N Ultra
AMD 2600+ (Stock HSF)
512mb Kingston DDR333
GeForce FX 5200
LiteOn 52x32x52x16
WD HDD 80gb (8mb, 7200rpm)
Sony FDD
