Can't delete Desktop icons...In use?

So I have two icons, one a failed Game demo that got accidentally cancelled midway and the other a Tyrian 2000 download. When I open up the task manager i cant find them running but if I try to delete these icons it says they are currently in use.

Any suggestions?

try this if you cannot delete what you're trying to delete. It finds the system hook that the program is using and can stop it. then you are free to delete.

If it says they are being in use, try to limit the programs starting at bootup with ms config. Then see if you get the problem again.

Wish I would have known. I formatted my system after a downloaded demo couldn't be delted off the desktop (Just the files, even!). I finally gave up and formatted.
