My area is a public wireless hotspot, which is convenient for me because it saves me money. I've been using this for months without issue, but all of the sudden, I can't connect. I still have full signal strength, but it just wont let me connect. Windows says "received no response from router/access point." I can connect to someone's nearby wireless network though, which leads me to believe its not my adapter. I've uninstalled it, reinstalled it, and I even changed the MAC a few times just in case I'd been blocked for some reason; all to no avail. Any ideas?

EDIT: also, my roommate has no issues connecting to this access point with her laptop. It's just me -_-

does the wifi network use any kind of encryption? many older laptops/wifi cards do no support wpa/wpa2 and even though you can see the network on your list you can't connect to them.

I've changed my MAC a few times, as I stated in the original post.

axan: I'm not on a laptop, I'm using a relatively new D-Link adapter. I've tried different encryptions, but it didn't require any before.
