Can't change from speakers to headphones

I can't find an option to change to headphones as default. The only option is speakers. I am using realtek hd audio in windows 7. I rememeber with xp and vista I was able to change to headphones or back to speakers, but I don't see the option to do that here.

I have also teh same problem this guy has where if he double clicks on the green jack nothing pops up to change to headphones as default device. He is using vista though, but the drivers are the same: http://www.vistax64.com/sound-audio/198039-sound-doesnt-switch-speakers-headphones.html

"Weird things: A lot of people have device advanced settings. I dont.
- in those options there should be an option where it says "mute rear output device, when front headphones are plugged in"
-i wish i had that option, but i dont get the advanced folder at all.

Contol panel/sound/playback devices ....... i only have speakers(realtek high definition audio) show up, no HEADPHONES."
