I have WindowsXP installed on my SATA drive, and have a blank ATA drive. When I set the SATA drive for boot, it doesn't recognize a bootable disk. It makes me put the blank drive as boot. w.t.f...?

What was the boot order in the bios when you installed Windozes.
If your SATA dive was second then your boot.ini files, rtc will get installed on the other drive.
I now always disconnect all my other hard drives when doing a new install of Windozes for that reason.
Once installed I then connect all my other drives.
Then move my cd drive from D: to N: to make room for the hard drives.
So easiest way if its a fresh install is to just reinsall without anyother hard drives.
