Can't boot from CD

I'm trying to repair an installation of Windows XP but when i try to boot from the CD it says press any key to boot from CD, but it's like the keyboard does nothing even though it worked with the bios beforehand.
 
do you have a USB keyboard? Is your bios set to use USB keyboards on boot?
 
Check the BIOS settings of the computer you are working with and look for something like "legacy USB". Toggle that setting to the opposite of whatever setting it's on. So if legacy USB is on, turn it off. If it's off, turn it on. Then try the keyboard again.
 
Try a different port, namely the top most usb ports on the rear and reboot. Sometimes a Motherboard will have multiple controllers.
