Cant boot after ghosting drives?

Im stumped...heres the deal...i got 3 ide drives,k (a 13, 40, and 80) for xmas i got a 250 sata...i moved the data from the 80 to the 250 and then the 40 to the 80 and the 13 to the 40, becuse i wanna get rid of the 13 as its slowly dying....i used ghost 9, ghosted everything over...but for some reason, i unhook my current c and try to boot of the 40 (my new c) and it starts loading windows, but then it says loggin off, and then reboots...i tried bootin into safe mode, and it says Loggin off, loadings settings, savings settings like 5 times a sec. ( i mean insanley fast) and the only way i can get out is to hard reboot. when i ghosted the c drive i chose the MBR and set as active options in ghost, but somethigns not right
any help is appreciated
 
try re-initializing the MBR on the 40 using Gdisk, should be included with Ghost. If not, you can google for it.
 
i thought only mbr was if it wasnt finding the drive....its finding the drive, but not fully loading windows...
 
No, the MBR is the master boot record, it stores the boot information. Since it boots and tries to login to Windows, this isn't corrupted. If it was, the system wouldn't BOOT

It sounds more like you have corruption in your Windows profile. ReGhost the 40GB and this time select sector by sector copy.

If the 13GB drive is failing you may want to boot it up again, tell windows to run a chkdsk and look for bad sectors and let that run before recloning it. If there's file system errors, those will clone over too.
 
its not really failing, its just old, and doesnt perform as well as it used to...ill try re ghosting it again and see if that works, thanks

im not seeign a sector by sector option in 9.0
i got check source for file system errors
check destination for file system errors
set drive active (for booting os)
disable smartsector copying
ignore bad sectors during copy
copy MBR
 
hmm weird....first tiem i ghsoted it, the drive size was almost a gig too small...i ghosted it again, now i have a 1 meg difference, should work correctly now...


gawd damnit mofo....crap...same crap as before....i dunno wtf is goin on...thsi doesnt make sense....

im comparing the drives.....my new windows dir is missing 1 file...tiem to find my needle in a haystack
 
k i found wut file isnt copying, btu i cant figure out why

the file is \system volume information\MountPointManagerRemoteDatabase
reason: failed to open destination file

wtf does this file do, and y isnt it copying

(ive tried multiple ways to ghost the drive and even used maxblast but still same thign)


mods: if this needs to be moved to OS forum, can u please move it there, thanks

Glad to hear it! Yeah Ghost's a double edged sword. If there's problems in the file system, they get copied by Ghost.
