Can't add datastore

I'm running ESXi 5.1 in 60 day evaluation mode at the moment. I've a 5.46Tb array, and I've created a 1Tb datastore in ESXi with no problems.

I have 4Tb left so want to add another datastore. When trying to add another datastore I am getting no option to select the array (on a Perc 5i controller). No devices are showing up..

What am I doing wrong?!

Any thoughts please?!

Best practice is to have LUNs and datastores on a 1:1 ratio. Try carving out more LUNs and try again.

Extending out your current datastore is your only option.

You're not going to have multiple datastores per device. (but you can have vice versa)

no, click on one of the esx hosts, go the the configure tab, click storage. Right click the datastore, go to properties and hit "increase"

There's a KB where you can try form the CLI, but if you're installed there, you may have the vms partition in the middle of the vfat ones which will prevent an increase.

ESXi is running from USB stick so no issues with that. I'll have a hunt around and locate the article you're referring to.

scp the VM files off somewhere and just blow away that datastore and start again.
