I am in the market for a new camera, as i am going off to school and do not currently own one of my own. here are the primary things i am looking for...

1. I am not a photo enthusiast - i just want something that will take nice looking pics. Up till now, i have been using my mom's Olympus D560 and it looks fine to me

2. I want a small camera, something that is easy to carry around, and not too bulky that it feels cumbersome. There have been plenty of times when i have wanted to take a picture and not had a camera, this is supposed to fix that :p

3. Gets good battery life. i know the canon uses a proprietary battery, but in everything ive read, they say it gets rather good battery life, around 140 shots with the LCD on. i can live with that

4. USB2.0. fast transfer speeds are definatly a plus

5. Fast shutter speed, ability to take pictures quickly (the Digic2 chip in the SD helps this a bunch i have heard).

6. non-proprietary memory format (such as CF or SD)

7. at least 3x optical zoom

so far, the SD400 is the best camera i have been able to find for this. i am not partial to any brand, so any comments on this camera or suggestions for a different one are definatly welcome, i want to make this a great purchase.

according to dpreview.com, the fuji f10, gives better quality images... can take 500 shots on a charge, has a USABLE ISO of 1600, and is alot cheaper....
