hey guys,
i just bought a canon s70 and it only comes with 32 mb CF
so i was thinking about getting the lexar 80x 1gb
my question is - is it worth it to get the 80x?
cause if the camera cannot take advantage of 12MB/sec i might just as well get a 40x

any insight?

thanks in advance

i'd get a larger 40x over the 80x. Previous canon's havent been able to take advantage of the speed, i doubt the new ones do.

since the s70 is like7mp or something, i would get min 512, preferably 1gb CF card.

Transferring files off with a usb2/firewire card reader you would be able to make use of the speed increase tho.

It wont make a difference with your camera, but it might make a difference reading it onto your computer if you have a nice firewire or usb 2.0 card reader

Your camera probably can't take full advantage of the card. My current camera (Nikon CoolPix 995) can only write to my 1GB Sandisk Ultra II @ 500-600KB/s (TIFF image - 10MB, 20sec write time - Old 128MB card was closer to 40sec write time). It appears to write JPEGs faster than that though, since they're 1MB and write in probably 1.5 sec. Since I got it for new for only ~$10 more than a no-name card, I'm not upset. I'm hoping that this investment pays off for when I get a Digital Rebel though, which should be soon.
