Just wondering if anyone has any idea if the Canon S2 IS is due to be updated or replaced in the near future? I have no idea when it was released, but I'm really close to buying one. I can get it for 400 shipped with my higher education discount from Dell, and haven't really seen it any cheaper. I already have a 1 gig SD card, so I'm really set with any accessories that I would want. If it were due to be updated any time soon, I'd like to hold off. If anyone has any ideas, or would suggest a better camera for me in the 400 range with image stablization and a nice zoom like the S2, post your comments!
 
I do not think that camera is going to be replaced anytime soon. I would get the camera, it is well worth it. Unless you plan to go DSLR.
 
It was announced in April 05, the next rehash of it wont be till 07 or 08, so I wouldn't worry about it getting ninja-updated on you.

Just thought I would follow up. I got the S2 IS the other day, and I love the camera. However I just read that it's due to be replaced in May of this year by the S3. Oh well, I guess it can't be new forever :)

Correct. Says May with suggested retail price of $499! Ohh and its black! :D

Just a note: Dell has the S2 IS for $304. I'm not sure where you got yours, but you might be able to get some cash back.
