Anyone have any experience with this camera? Any thoughts/ideas? It sounds like a pretty badass camera if you don't mind having a DSLR that comes with L-glass, but without the ability to change out lenses.

You must have anticipated that someone would respond to that comment.

It's FAR from a DSLR when it somes to:

-speed
-image quality
-depth of field control

And even technically it is _not_ a DSLR just to make that clear. We identify it as a "prosumer" or higher end consumer cam.

SLR - Stands for Single Lens Reflex. Essentialy it means that you see what the film see's. You look through the lens of the camera at the object. "The Pro1 uses a high-resolution TFT color LCD with 235,000 pixels as the eyelevel finder". - Source: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_reviews/pro1_pg2.html

This is just an advanced P&S Camera. The "L" lens means that it has UD Glass Element, and a Flourite Glass Element. The build quality is also a little higher.

Cheers

Yea the pro1 is def NOT a SLR. It does, IMO takes better pictures than the 300D.

I don't think that it could take a better picture than a 300D with say a 17-40 f/4.0 L, or a razor sharp 70-200 f/2.8 L IS but if you are looking at the 300D with a kit lens sure it probably does.

Cheers,

The 300D is capable of taking better pictures than any point and shoot, given the array of lenses, speedlites, and internal settings for the 300D or on any SLR.
