Canon axes SED development

Very sad news. I've been so looking forward to displays that can actually display /black/.

Well, guess we got one less bit of tech to look forward to, but it's not like there aren't a ton others that look good.

With 0.001ftL, the 2009 Pioneer Kuro is close to true black.

Since the Kuro has been discontinued, I guess that OLED is the future then...

Image persistance and power usage with plasma would be pretty unpleasant for a desktop monitor. OLED is still far away in the lifespan department. SED was essentially ready to go without these issues years ago. Not to mention the sub 1ms response times.
