I just received my Seasonic Platinum 1000W PSU from RMA. Unfortunately, I cannot get my PC to post. There is no bios splash screen. The first time I turn on the PC, it runs for 10-15 seconds, I get the single beep and it shuts down and restarts. Then every time after that, it runs for a few seconds and does not beep before it restarts again. So I am having an infinite series of restarts until I turn off the PSU switch. Am I correct to assume it is the PSU? I remove all ram using just a single stick and connect only the mobo and CPU to the PSU. I have hit the clear CMOS switch several times. Your advice will be much appreciated.
 
Is this the one that arrived in packing peanuts, that you mention elsewhere on the forum?

That would be my first suspect. If it was working fine til you slapped in the new Seasonic, then its pretty much obvious.
 
Computer cases often flex enough when moved or worked on to pull the video card slightly out of its slot, enough to prevent operation or cause a short. Also verify that the CPU is making good contact with the heatsink.

Try unplugging and replugging the motherboard power connectors several times, in case their contacts are coated with crud. For some reason a lot of my PSUs bought in the past 2 years didn't work until I did that, including a Seasonic-built Antec.
 
I dunno, a single beep then constant looping almost sounds like RAM to me.
 
Wouldn't RAM trigger a different set of beeps...? POST checks the RAM, IIRC...

Yep, I think it's 3 IIRC. Don't quote me on that though.

Sounds like PSU to me. I always try to keep a spare PSU around just for this reason. It it worked fine before, then common logic would tell you the new component would be the bad one.

That's if it can even get that far. It might be attempting to sound the beeps then shutting down to retime the ram, and then never finding working timings, it just never posts. Seen it many a time. Hell, I have an Asus Z68 board that when I use a specific set of ram, it'll sit there just turning itself on and off, silently, for about 10 minutes, and the boom, clean post and boot. Pull the Kingston and put in some Crucial, and it's perfectly fine.

Ram can do some funky shit.

Yeah, I'd try reseating the RAM -- and if that doesn't do it, put some spare RAM in there if you can.
 
Thanks everyone for your comments. I am waiting for a replacement PSU from Seasonic. I will post back with the results of trying out all your suggestions.
 
It turns out the PSU was defective. The replacement received from Seasonic works satisfactorily.
 
Ouch I have the same1000w one and I had that happened once I didn't have a bad experience with RMA though, hopefully they take care of you.
