hi, i have a evga 6800GT cooled by a koolance waterblock. it looks just like this one from the [H] review, only it is a GT, not an ultra. The heatsinks on the RAM are the same. On my card, I cannot OC over 414/1000 without a little freezing in 3dmark/aquamark. Temps are not a problem because the card idles at 49 C.

Would taking off the ramsinks and cleaning them off, then putting on some AS5 and reapplying the ramsinks help any? The first time I just took off the stock cooler and stuck the heatsink on the RAM without cleaning anything..could this be why the RAM won't OC at all? Will the ram sinks stick to the AS5?

Thanks.

Will not stick to the AS 5.

Are the ramsinks hot to the touch?

I doubt that it is heat related.

still using the gt bios?

get the ultra bios and see if that helps

i watercool my gt but i get 1150 or so on my ram,

take off whatever part of the stock cooling you still have on.

just open and bare you shouldnt have a problem breaking at least 1.1

after some gaming the heatsinks are hot, but not like burning up

there is no stock cooling still attached. are you saying to take off the heatsinks?
