Cannot install microsoft .net framework 2.0 or above.

Hello everyone,

I absolutely cannot install microsoft .net framework 2.0 or above. My os is windows xp media center edition. Everytime I try to windows update it fails. I have also tried downloading the .net frameworks and installing them seperately. I have also tried a number of solutions from googling the problem but nothing seems to work. One of these solutions included uninstalling all versions of the .net framework and reinstalling while using windows install clean up. If you need addiional info on the problem just ask and ill reply.

This is the code windows update gives me when trying to install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB951847) x86:

Error Code: 0x643
Try to install the update again, or request help from one of the following resources.

Is there a log? Is your system fully patched? Do you have any pending updates?

These are things to check first.
 
Google the ".NET Framework Cleanup Tool"...some Microsoft MVP guy wrote one and it's posted on a lot of MVP and MSDN blog sites. I had to use it a couple of months ago on a clients computer that had issues with newer versions of .NET Frame not installing. It basically removes and fully cleans up all existing .NET Framework installs. And then you go and manually download the full installers for each....install them one by one.
 
I've run the cleaner, but now Im wondering if there are specific versions I should be installing.
