I have connected my desktop and my dad's laptop using WiFi. The router which I am using is from Linksys. Although both the systems can access internet through WiFi but I am unable to browse the systems.

For the desktop I am using Windows XP and for my dad's laptop I am using Windows VISTA. I have enabled file sharing and printer sharing in the network settings of both the PC, both the PCs are having IP settings automatic, still these 2 PCc can't access each other through network. Can someone tell me the solution to this problem?

Thanks in advance

Have you shared any folders or printers? Are you able to ping PC1 from PC2 and from PC2 to PC1? Are you running any firewall software on the computers?

Yes they are shared. I have'nt tried to ping them but in Start>Run when I type \\PC1, it is unable to open it. I am using firewall provided by windows

Have you added a File and Printer Sharing firewall exception to the windows firewall? Try the ping, that is always the first place to start when you know you already have physical connectivity.

Yes it is there in windows firewall. Has it got something to do with the TCP/IP settings? Previously I was using a different WiFi router in which the ISP has set static IP Address for both the systems, so they were able to browse each other. But now they are dynamic.
