I know the thought of Canadian coins being bugged with RFID chips is a bit creepy but, if you think about it, it’s cool in a 007-ish kinda way all at the same time. Well, unless it was YOU being tracked, then it isn’t funny.

Canadian coins containing tiny transmitters have mysteriously turned up in the pockets of at least three American contractors who visited Canada, says a branch of the U.S. Department of Defence.

Given the range capable i'd say its more likely they just wanted to be sure we weren't spying on them. That seems a far more probable use then trying to find out what he knows and where he goes outside of canada,
 
Baaaaawwh! How am I supposed to fold tiny tin foil hats for my change now!?! This is just freaking unfair. Then again, I knew my super power of drunken origami could come in handy some day.

Side note, the people who were making the RFID secure passports - blocked reading or scanning of passport information unless opened - are they making a similar product but as a coin purse?

Uh..... they aren't far from it. They have nuclear weapons, have resources comparable to the United States resources..... they are the fourth superpower in the world today.
 
They probably wanted to see how long it would take those americans to throw away the fake money once they left the country.

Canadians making thier own money, thats cute.

Well sorry to be the bad news bearer but this is untrue.

To be considered a super power, you must not only be capable to launch war on a global scale, you must also have a superior airforce, navy, and ground offensive. You must also be self sufficient and be wealthy on resources.

You must also gain soft power, the ability to culturally and politically influcence those nations you seek to destroy.


So yeah, the only thing Canada has got going for them is Resources, and then they lack the man power to take advantage of it all.


Top GDP millitary expendatures in higest to lowest: US, China, Russia, UK, Japan, France, Germany, India, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Italy, Australia, Brazil, and then finally Canada. Thus this alone concludes that they are no where near 4th place. And I didn't even factor Israel in the equation either.

If you tell me that Canada can hang with the US, Israel, EU, Germany, India, South Korea, etc... then I have some great marshland in florida I can sell you.
 
It all depends on how you define a super power. Canada is most definitly an energy super power. The number one exporter of oil to the United States is not some middle eastern country ... it is actually Canada, and has been for some time now. Canada could use its position as an energy power, like Russia, to increase the national government's power, but that is not something Canadians believe in, rather Canada believes "in the free exchange of energy products based on competitive market principles, not self-serving monopolistic political strategies" -Prime Minister Stephen Harper

Superpower has always been defined as millitary might and technologies.

Just keep in mind, sure they can pull the oil, but it would take the US less than a few days to desolate Canada.

You are incorrect a superpower is defined as a nation that can influence events and project power on a worldwide scale. Military power is simply one, rather low brow approach.
