Anyone have a recommendation for a good source/book/tutorial/youtube video of how computer architecture is laid out and works?
I'm pretty well versed in computers (and have been building custom ones since I was a kid), however, I'm not very "strong" on how it all works and flows together through the computer's architecture/motherboard/chipset, like how all the different chips and buses and lanes on the motherboard work together in a cohesive whole (and what/why each one is needed).
I want to go deeper than the functions of all the removable modules (video card, memory, cpu, etc) -- like about buses, lanes, interconnects, chipsets, etc. And even something showing a bit of the timeline of how the architecture has changed and adapted over time would be great, too.
Of course, I've found lots of information and source on google and wikipedia about all the specific pieces and parts, but I haven't been able to find a pretty well-rounded, all inclusive explanation of how they all coordinate, work, and flow together through the computer architecture.
I'll keep pounding away at google/wikipedia/youtube in the meantime, should I find a great source and report it back here.
