Can you use multiple cards from different manufacturers simultaneously? Not for gaming, obviously, but for video this might be useful.

The motherboard I'd like to use has an amd 785G chipset and HDMI / DVI output. However, my main graphics card is a geforce, and drives a dual-monitor setup. I'd like to be able to play video on my TV (hdmi) if I so desire, without the nuisance of switching cables and reconfiguring monitors.

What options in windows are available for 3 monitors? Can I have extended desktop on the Geforce-attached monitors and video overlay zoomed on the amd/hdmi/TV ?

I assume any of these scenarios will be possible if I switch to a radeon card.

Yes you can have more than one monitor on different video cards, nvidia and ati can be used together.

Cool. Are there any limitations on what you can do? Extended desktop, cloning, video overlay zooming, etc? Or does the windows GX api handle all that stuff at a higher level?
