I am thinking about Getting a dual opteron system with a Tyan Thunder K8WE (i think) Nforce Pro 2200 Mobo...

Can you overclock this? is the Multi Unlocked? and HTT... can I adjust that too

Thanks

Opterons ship multi locked, I do know that. You will have to read the motherobard manual - you can download a PDF of it from Tyan - to find what, if any, clock speed and voltage controls are present in the board's BIOS. I don't think you're going to have very good luck OC'ing Opterons, although I may be wrong.

The Opterons them self should overclock as other AMD64 cpu's, the problem is finding a motherboard with oc'ing options i the bios, and ecc/reg ddr which can handle high fsb, that won't be cheap, probably cheaper to by the faster cpu.

wait to see what the abit dual opteron (sli) board has. it should be fun, especially with the lack of a registered memory requirement.

but yes, they can OC. there's a guy who has pics of dual vapochills on an opteron setup in the extreme OC section.
