Can You Get Rid of WHOIS Junk?

When I run the `whois` command from the command line, on a "big name" domain (like `whois google.com`) I get all sorts of CRAP. The results of this are as follows:

At the bottom of that list, it says

But as you can see, that's exactly what I'm doing to come up with this in the first place. There must be some way to specify only the letter-for-letter domain you are typing in, and not run the whois as a search?

Perhaps it is the MacOS whois client that is the problem. I do not have access to one for testing purposes.
