i think my onboard ATA is shotty or something and was wondering if the promise ATA133 PCI card will boot up?

meaning if i put my HDD that im using right now on it and use that to boot up, will it?

will it bypass the onboard ATA?

sorry im totally new to this as i have never used one before or seen one used. thx

Yes, you can boot up off of it, but if you're using Windows XP, you'll have to change the boot.ini file before it can boot off of the ATA133 card.

how would i go about doing this?

also, can you boot off of the 2nd ATA channel or do you have to use the first?
