ok my more precise question is.

wide angle LED are flat on the end.

i found the LED i want but they arent wide

would sanding them flat on the end make them shine wider?
 
Yep, sand away. Just don't sand too much off--you don't want to hit the actual light-emitting part of the diode!
 
yeah sand it while its fired up, that way you wont waste any time if you go too far and it stops working.
 
good point darkala.

Another thing to remember is, the angle wont change. It'll diffuse the light more if you sand it but you're not going to get light coming from all around it like you're probably thinking.
 
haha im not caring abotu 360 deg light

im replacing incan bulbs in my car cluster to led but its wayy to expensive ot buy led bulbs

so im doing it myself

i just dont want it to come straight out the tip and cause hotspots
 
Use a metal file to get within 2mm of the actual light chip. Go to far, and you'll short out a tiny wire that is barely noticeable. Really, you can only see it from the top, and it sticks higher then the other components on the inside.
