Can this case be rackmounted without rails?

I'm looking for a rackmount case for my firewall at home here. I have a custom made rack that's basically a 2 post rack. I'm wondering if this http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811219032 case would be able to be mounted by just it's ears and be fine that? It seems kind of deep and would have a lot of weight in the back of it...

It might sag a little bit but it is short enough I wouldn't see it being a huge deal. Make sure to use very good screws, maybe throw a couple washers in too. If I was designing the rack layout I would have rest 1U up from something longer that has better weight distribution so it stays more flat/flush

I have the same size case. Mine doesn't at all. The mounting is spread enough to not sag as far as I can tell.

Get a 2 post rack shelf that mounts in the center to distribute the weight.

You can get something like this as well if you don't want it to stick out as far

At only 15" deep you do not have to worry about mounting it on a shelf or rails. That unit should face mount like any ordinary switch or network device.

Most of the weight in that system is up front so there should be no sagging either.
