Hi, i just installed the antec 480 neopower (the [H]ot deals one from newegg), and I got another DVD drive as well, so this is what i have in my PC

amd 1800+
2 512 sticks of RAM
9800pro
1 WD 200 gb drive
1 WD 160 gb drive these 2 are on a pci card
1 liteon 52x cd-r hooked into the mobo
1 NEC 8x DVD-r hooked into the mobo
1 NEC 16x DVD-r (the new one, just wanted another drive to have)

so when i put in the power supply and new drive, i put the new drive on and ide cable going to the other mobo slot, i did this in the past with another non recordable dvd drive, but had to give that one away to a friend. when i booted it up this time, it hangs on "detecting IDE drives" it eventually loads but then windows freezes up before i can get it to do anything. I have no idea what's causing this problem, it seems like it'd work with any of the 2 drives, but not all 3 for some reason, anyone have any ideas out there? thanks

I had the problem of "detecting IDE drives" come on me out of the blue with out changing hardware. I reinstalled the chipset drivers and it hasn't happened again.

Since you changed hardware, could you have it jumpered funny?

hmph, i completely forgot about how the jumpers would be set on the drive, i will try that. thanks a lot
