Can someone recommend some settings?

I have the system described in my signature at the bottom. I have been running with the CPU set at 3Ghz and the settings "N/B Strap CPU As: By CPU" and "DRAM Ratio: 5:4", my RAM timings are 2:6:3:3. I'm trying to get the most out of my setup, are these settings optimal? I really appreciate any suggestions.

-Thanks
Will

PS.- I tried setting the DRAM Ratio to 1:1 but at restart the monitor never kicked on. After leaving the computer off for a few minutes it turned on but only posted at 2.4Ghz. At this point I set the ratio back to 5:4 and came here.

well you never said if you were having a problem with anything or not? is your system stable at that overclock? what are you trying to accomplish?

Yes, the system is stable for the most part. I just downloaded the Far Cry game demo but I can only play on low graphics detail, when I try medium the game crashes. I know changing some BIOS settings might not help the game run but my goal here is to make sure my settings are optimal.

-Thanks

ahhh, i would try changing your cas from 2 to 2.5. see if that makes a difference. also maybe upping your ram voltage to 2.8 if it's not already there. and the vCore, have you tried upping that?

also, if you aren't doing so already. google search for the programs memtest and prime95. download them and run the tests for a little while. at least 30 minutes or so at first. if you get any errors then you know your system isn't optimal or stable and you need to readjust your settings.

I have tried 2.5 but no difference, still crashes. All the voltages are currently stock. I don't know if this helps but when the game crashes it pops up an error from the system tray. It says something like "Attention, could not write E:\$MSFT to memory. Data has been lost. This could have been a hardware failure . . . " I forget the rest. I also get an error window saying that Microsoft Messenger has crashed. Whats up with that? I don't even use messenger.

-Thanks
Will

Ahhh yeah, first thing definitely download those programs. Memtest and Prime95. They are an overclockers best friend.

About windows messanger. If you are using XP, right click My computer, then click manage, then click services and applications, then click services, then scroll down to messanger and disable it! That's what's popping up on your screen and it's completely different from windows messanger. Whenever you reinstall XP, always remember to disable that service. It sucks.

I would definitely try upping your voltages, that sounds like the problem with the crashing. Try a little bit at a time until you stop getting errors from Prime95. Once you don't get anymore errors, then you know your system is stable and you're good to go.
