can someone help?

i just bought a 9800 pro and installed it, with the new drivers from the ATI web sight. every time i try to play a game that is worth a shit, the screen turns into a lot of colored lines and a faint pitcher. Runs great, untill i load up a game! any ideas?

3200 xp
1 gig twin ddr 2700
550 ps
sony CDR
sony DVD
windows XP

What was your previous video card?

Also was this 9800 Pro used or new?

It was Nvida Geforce FX 5500

Did you use Driver Cleaner to erase all leftovers of your ForceWare drivers?

i got the same problem with the new ati drivers, 5.1 work great but when i put the new 5.3 drivers on all the textures in counter strike source go all dark
