Can PC case kill parts?

from static???? was it filled with foam peanuts (inside the case)???

Just ground yourself and touch the case to discharge any static before working on the system.

I have seen some very cheap cases (flimsy construction) short out motherboards due to flexing.
 
I think OP is referring to, when you buy a new case with a side panel window, sometimes you peel back the protective plastic coating, and you can feel tons of static on window after that.. maybe not? This is my experience anyway.
 
trying to put that freaking plate on the back of a case, the one that goes over the motherboard inputs, yeah i've never not bled when putting those in. i guess if you got some wrist action in there you could die.
 
I bought a cheap $30 case. After awhile it just started getting real flimsy. Sometimes when I moved the cause just to maybe push it back or pull it forward to get to the wires it would shut off. I ended up killing two motherboards because of it. When I put together this computer it wouldnt even turn on while in that case because it was shorting somewhere so I ended up putting it in a really old case till I got another case.
 
How does the flexing kill the motherboard?. I have a super lanboy and it is kind of flimsy so should i be worried about it?
 
the motherboard tray bends in the middle tounching the motherboard this will join connections on short it out

Use a flathead screwdriver
 
Years ago I did a build that inexplicably woudln't run. I replaced evry part and still no go . Finally I set it up without the case and it booted just fine. I was really surprised to learn that a case could be a faulty component. I don't use cheap cases anymore. Now I also set my builds up on a bench and then boot them before I waste time installing them. That is the day I actually look back at and think that I really became a system builder. Run a computer without a case and literally "bench" mark it on a bench.

cases? We dunt need no stinkin' cases!

Been there and done that a few times also. The other tech working with me at the time gave me a WTF is that look.
