ok,
so my desktop crashed. (window 7 machine. crashed due to hardware issue, not related to this thread.)
i wanted to get to one of the programs on it, so i thought i would be smart and remove my HDD from my desktop (2.5" 600gb hdd) and put it into my HP laptop.

so i pulled out my vista HDD from my laptop (voiding the waranty btw) and put in my windows 7 HDD from my desktop.

it would not make it past the widnows screen without blue screening. i tried to repair start up. no change.

so i gave up on the idea, and pulled the windows 7 HDD out and replaced the vista one.

now when i start up my computer it gives me a boot option between :
c:\ vista
and x:\ windows 7 (recovered)

X Drive? i dont have an x drive, and there is no more windows 7 on the machine.

so i figured i checked diskmgmt.msc and there is no x:\ to format. duh.
then i put in a vista disk to try and repair the start up, and on that screen there IS still an x:\ that says its 0mb and running windows 7.

i chose the vista start up and picked repair. no change.

still have both options.

i have no clue how to remove it.

any ideas?

thanks.
