Can my UPS be causing this problem?

Well for about a month now, I had my CyberPower UPS system. Its rated at 725SL and is 400 watts.

Well sometimes when I would load up a game or do something that uses alot of system power, my computer will just restart itself. This problem started occuring after I hooked up the UPS. To me, its the only thing that can cause it, since it started right after I hooked it up. Its just weird how the battery doesnt kick in and keep it on still. Which then comes to my other 2 theorys.

Can it be my 300 watt power supply? The reason I dont think it is, is because like I said above, this problem never occured until I got the UPS. But I also added 2 x 512 Value Select Ram also. Can that eat up the left over power I never used before?

Then my last theory is when I put the 2 x 512 MB of Corsair Ram in it, something happened. Like it isnt working right the Infineon Ram that is in there also.

My computer specs:
Started off as a HP a630n computer, but after some modifying it turned out like this:
HP a630n motherboard made by ASUS
P4 520 Intel Processor
2 x 256MB of Infineon Ram(dont know exact model number, original ram that came with it)
2 x 512MB of Value Select Corsair Ram
Sapphire X600 Pro Video Card
Maxtor 200 gig SATA hard drive
300 Watt psu(dont know brand name)
Windows XP Pro w/SP 2

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

i would swap out the power supply and also run a memtest

If I had another power supply laying around I would of done that. I want to make sure its the power supply before I go ahead and buy a new one. Im tight on cash right now, and cant buy something that I may not need.

if i were a betting man, i'd say it was the power supply. generally large OEMs like HP go with the smallest thing that will power the box as it leaves the plant.

i'd go to a big box (best buy or something) or a local computer store with a good return policy and get a better (not just more watts) power supply and try it.

Hmm... Your line of thinking confuses me.

I mean, I see the logic of thinking that it's the UPS because it's the only part that's changed, but I think it's more realistic to assume that some other part has failed SINCE you got the UPS.

First off: You're not going to tax the max capability of that UPS. If you did, it would beep to tell you were overloading it.

Second: Unless this is happening during power failrues, you're still working off of your mains.

Doubt me? Disconnect the UPS and plug the PC straight into the wall.

Now for the kicker....

90% of the time when I experience "random reboots" or reboots when the PC is under stress, the problem is NOT PSU related. IT'S RAM! And you have two new sticks of RAM installed!!!! Umm.... ;)
