Can my computer recapture its glory days?

Hey all i was just wondering if there is something that i am missing. I have a sager laptop that is a p4 2.6 with HT and 512 of ram which used to be blazin back in the day( about a year ago) but now shes all bogged down, taking forever to just load mozilla, and sometimes when i mouseovers a tray icon and a bubble pops up my fps goes to like 1 until the little bubble dissappears. I have updated and ran all my spyware/antivirus softwares and still crappyness...should i be looking to upgrade already? or am i letting windows xp get the best of me? Thoughts or solutions welcome. Thanks in advance!

my worst fear has been recognized...was hoping there was another option...now i beging the process of backing up my mp3s to dvd...thanks guys

1. Regscrub xp
(to clean your registry) Broken chains, keys with no values<<this happens easily and can really affect your boot

2. Then a start-up manager

3. and finally run O&O defrag

My friend had a PIII 866Mhz and it was really lagging and I did those 3 steps (free and easy) and his old pc has a pep in its step again.


Never under estimate the power of a good defrag!!!
