I have a gateway comp.... it comes with a p4 2.0ghz northwood but heres the problem.... its only 400mhz fsb.. i was wondering a if it can support 80mhz fsb or 5-- fsb.... thx

I'm sorry, but most Gateway motherboards were manufactured by Intel. And at the time of the 2.0A P4 (400FSB), the stock Gateway motherboard is permanently fixed at 400FSB. Thus, if you try to put a 3.2GHz 800FSB Northwood on that mobo, you'll end up running that CPU at only 1.6GHz - if that system of yours even boots up at all with that "3.2GHz" CPU.

It won't likely even boot. HT was added to the 800MHz FSB parts, and voltage/thermal specs changed from 400FSB chips to 800FSB chips.

A Prescott likely would fry if you put it on that board. As the Prescott won't take kindly to 1.5 or 1.6 volts.
