Can I stop Ad animations?

My bro-in-law is light-sensitive epileptic, but wants to learn about computers. Is there any way to simply stop the flashing/animations without blocking the ads? Or, is there a text-only way to view the [H]? Thanks.
 
The low tech way would be to go to the thread you want, click on thread tools and then click printable version. The new format comes up in plain readable text with no animation.
 
Thank you. I'll check those out. I'd hate to see him have a seizure and lose his license and such (or worse :( ).
 
Thanks again, guys. Those are all steps I took last night. I think I have it safe enough that he can get in and learn how to do the stuff himself. I feel for the guy. He hasn't played even a video game in 20 years :( I hope they can find the cause of that condition.
