Can I modify SLI bridge?

Want to SLI two EVGA GTX285s on my x58 LE motherboard.

The single flexible bridge is WAY too long.

I can get generica shorter ones (1 5/8") on ebay and such.

Is it possible to simply cut the extra portion of a 3 way bridge off and use the rest to SLI 2 cards?

Using a 3 way isn't possible as I have an ATI internal cablecard tuner as well....

This is probably one of those things where "if you have to ask, then no" works.
 
You don't have to cut anything. Just put the bridge on between the two cards and it should work just fine, even though it's a tri-sli bridge. Obviously, you'll have the excess potentially hanging over the edge if you put both cards next to eachother - But thats a non-issue.

Just noticed you said you can't use the 3 way. That said, I don't see why you can't use the 3 way. The ATI cablecard should be lower-profile, so the bridge hanging over shouldn't be an issue. (Unless i'm wrong and it is)

No, I wouldn't attempt to cut the 3 way bridge in half. It probably won't work right as stuff won't be terminating properly. So either find someone to trade with, or buy a two-way bridge. Frankly, I don't know why you don't want to use the flexible one. Yes, it's long - But whats the issue with that?
 
Ask evga support if they could send you a short one. Its worth a shot, the worst they could do is say no right? That or kill you... :p
