Can I get 166 FSB?

Ok, so I have figured out that my mainboard is my limiting factor in my CPU Multiplier hold up.

What is stopping me from using 166 FSB. My Vcore only goes up to 1.750 at the max. My cooling is running alittle hot at 50C. I cant get anything higher than 151Mhz FSB, or the system doesn't post, and at 151 Windows wont start.

What can I do to change that.

I am running a MSI 6712 mainboard, Crucial 2700 DDR, XP2400+ (Tbred) with a Vantec Aeroflow 1.

Cheers,

12*166 isn't that just 2.0Ghz?

Wouldn't I want something better?

u want 200 x11 or 220 x11 , something similar

higher bus = better bandwidth = better performance

I think there is no PCI/AGP lock on that board, so high FSB (200+) may not be an option. It's a 333 board. Maybe temps/lowvoltage are holding you back.

Tried bumping it up past 152? The 1/5 divider should kick in then I'd believe? Just take it straight to 166 and see what that does.

i had a kt333 board (msi kt333 -ultra ARU ) and it ran 166 bus just fine , however , max fsb was around 174 or so , before the agp spec was out of whack

The FSB goes right up to 280, but I don't think I could get that without watercooling, but even then my voltages max out at 1.750

Well I am going to try 166 right now, and see what I get.

Cheers,
