Can I boot my computer to bios without memory with no problems? I just want to go ahead and setup my bios is all. I am not sure if I can or not. I have a P4C800-E Deluxe.

Also I have a P4 2.4 w/ SL6Z3 stepping just come in. The stock hsf has been used for 1 week. The processor looks fine and all, but the Stock HSF has like 3/4 of the black pad left on it. What should I do about that? Should I leave the black stuff on ther, and it still work, or do I need to just take my time and order some thermal paste?

Get yourself thermal paste, and get that black crap offa there. Your proc is nothing to fool around with for thermal stuff.

Your comp will not boot without RAM (at least I've never seen one that will). YOu will just get beeping errors :). Can't get into bios without some memory available.

G'luck

You need ram to boot up to bios, at least one stick.

Scrap off the black tar like paste and reapply good termal paste before mounting the heatsink.

Alright cool. What should I use to get that stuff off of there with then? Should I just scrap it off...or use like some kind of alcohol?

Could I use some Thermaltake thermal paste that came with my GiantII Heatsink for my video card on my processor for time being?

thermal paste is thermal paste. It may not be the highest performance paste, but if thats what you have, it will get the job done.

yea, but why not spend 4 bucks and get ceramique that will blow the generic paste away.

4 dollars is nothing, and the paste will last a good while.

my opinion anyway.

Yes you can. When you get a chance order better thermal paste.

Yeah I do actually plain on buying some Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Paste, and a SP-94 w/ Thermaltake Smartfan II, but that will take a good while to get here because I pay buy money orders. I am getting my Mushkin pc3500 Level II memory either tomorrow or thursday for my computer which is the last thing I need to get my computer up and going, and I REEAAALLLLYYYYY!!!!!! want to try out this computer :D I just can't go on any longer lol! This 700mhz celeron computer is KILLING me LITERALLY!

Anyways I have one more question and that is about my cable management. Jesus it is looking bad in there. I don't know what to do. I have 7 fans, Thermaltake 480w PSU w/ 2 fans, the 9800 pro 256mb w/t Thermaltake GiantII Heatsink and Fan, drives, sata drive, LED temperature thing, and processor heatsink and fan, plus more like USB connections, mic and speakers connections. IT IS DRIVING ME INSANE!!! THERE ARE SO MANY DAMN CABLES!!!!!!!

How many power connections can I hook up to 1 power connector? Like on one of the connectors I have 5 connections! Is that okay?
Most of these are fans that are connecting or LED connections.

You're probably over-fanning. What kind of case are you using?

As for fans off of one molex connector, five will be fine. Put it this way, two SCSI hard drives can eat a good 25W off of JUST the +12V line (Y-cable to two 15k SCSI drives), and five fans will probably only use about 15W.

Whoo. I have a heavy setup (1 SATA drive, 3 IDE, 2 CD drives) and I only have 3 fans in it. :p Unless you're running SCSI, you definatly don't need that many fans...
