Can anyone suggest a software to convert a mp4 video to avi?

Super!, MediaCoder, or several other free tools that are made for converting media formats. Google the names and you'll locate 'em soon enough.

If it was 3 years old, it would be an issue. This forum isn't quite as tight-assed as some, no worries. If the thread is old, and your addition is new information that might be considered relevant, it's not a problem.
