yes I need a Firewall for spyware etc and antivirus. What's the best one to get, thier is too many of them so this is very hard to pick?

anyone heard of bitdefender interent security? They got the entire pack - anti virus ,spyware firewall etc....

avgfree or Norton corporate (if you can get it) for AV
Kerio 2.1.5 for firewall - it's old, but still great.
Spyware - don't visit porn/warez sites, and maybe use firefox. With a good firewall spyware isn't really an issue imo.

According to a google search this is known spyware / trojan. You will definately need to scan that PC and / or wipe and reload the machine.

I use the Kasperty suite 6. Seems to work fine and would repeat business with them as needed.

Sygate Personal Firewall was pretty nice, before Sygate got bought out and gutted.

In addition to a firewall, you may want PeerGuardian. PeerGuardian is basically just an updating IP block-list of known people with bad intentions. It won't replace a firewall, but it can be used to enhance it.

For free anti-virus, AVG is nice and effective.

For spyware, a combination of things is good. Spybot S&D gets most of the nasty things, and can inoculate IE for further protection.

To help catch the stuff that Spybot may ignore, Lavasoft AdAware is very good. It may have some false positives, but it's mostly good. I like the googlepack version of the program. The googlepack updater may need human intervention sometimes, but it's still a pretty good updater.

To help prevent spyware, Microsoft's Windows Defender seems good. It seems to store many settings so that they can be restored in an emergency, so I would recommend only installing it on a system that you knew was already clean, so that those settings are not tainted.

If you use Firefox and Adblocker, you can prevent a lot of bad stuff too.

FYI - you might want to remove the adblock link, it's kinda against the rules around here. Otherwise, nice list. I'd still take kerio 2.1.5 over other firewalls though.

I still use kerio 2.1.5, but I've read many people in 'wilders security forums' likes outpost firewall more. I've been meaning to try it, but I'm kinda lazy :D

Ok I just used Spybot and it got rid if a couple of items. Then I re-scanned again and the Same items are still thier? even though it said it removed them?

What was the name of the items it is finding? It's possible that they are harmless, and it's possible that there is a persistent infection of some kind.

I have taken screenshot:

Although it's hard to tell from here, most of those appear to just be browser cookies, and are probably harmless.
It seems to be saying that your security center is partially disabled, which may be a bad idea, so I would recommend turning the notifications back on.

If you're gonna show a screen shot, expand all the entries so we can see the specifics.

LOL, I don't think thats what he meant.
If you press the + next to the entry, it will expand the view and give more information.
