I have two problems now with my new system and would appricate any help or suggestions.

One, it wont load DOOM 3 or Call Of Duty. I hit the short cut, I get the initial load screen, and thats it. Cnt+Alt+Del does not show a program running. It just stops there. A friend of mine sd to try to the no cd patch for DOOM 3, that did work, but I wold like to just have my PC without hacks.

Second, My cable modem says "network cable unplugged" when it is pluged into my my linksys router. If I plug the cord directly into the modem it works fine - but that leaves my GF's PC without internet which just isnt working out well. :( Her PC works fine plugged into the router but mine will flash from working to "Network Cable is Unplugged" repeatedly. My motherboard is a a Gigabyte N-force 3 - the 10/100 is integrated so trying a new one isnt an option yet.

If anyone can help I would really appricate it. BTW, this are the last two problems I have had after a a month of other problems trying to get this new pc to work. Please help if you can. Sorry for the spelling issues, I dont have Word.
 
Sounds like you need to make sure you have the latest DirectX installed and the latest drivers. You didn't mention the video card, so I can help with anything there.

As far as the network connectivity, you need to check the router settings, try different ports, try a different cable, and try updating the router's firmware.
 
Make sure your video drivers are up to date, and try reinstalling them. Also reinstall DX afterwards.

Your network issue is a little bit more confusing. More detail might be helpful. Definately try a different port on the router, and a different cable.
 
I know its not the cable because it works fine when its pluged directly into the modem. I have also tried different ports on the router, and that does not help.

As for the game loading, both games load fine with the no cd hack.

But what is firm ware and is that a hard thing to mess with?
