Ok pre-format i was getting ~1800 3dmarks with my system. post-format, new hdd and 512 ram later, my score drops 100 points. Anyone know any tweaks or can help me tweak my system? i use an xp2800+, msi ti46008x and 512ram. i have ran out of ideas what to do. i enabled 8x, fastwrtires, side band adressing, 128 mb cache size. I turned AA and af off. Vysnc is off. Im using the 45.23 drivers since i do get better performance out of them more than the new ones. Can anyone help me with my dilema here?

I'm assuming you mean 3dMark03? Make sure you're using the same settings as you had before. Also, did you have your card overclocked prior to formatting? If you did and didn't re-overclock, that could be another cause.

The real question is do you notice any framerate loss in actual games?

well to be honest games run better, but things like this bother me. just droping 100 points out of nowhere. i want to get the problem fixed more for self satisfaction rather than benchmark scores. I cant stand having stuff unfinished.

Well I'm not certain on how Futuremark does their scoring for their benchmarks, but I'd imagine that just because you "lost" some overall points it doesn't mean something is wrong. What you really should do is try to compare individual game tests and such.

I'd think that getting a higher average fps across all tests while at the same time somewhat lowering your max fps in each test would net you a loss in overall score, yet it is obviously better to have a higher average fps.
