my friend jsut built a p4 3.0 system with an asus p4p800-e. 1 gb of geil ddr400, but he is using the psu that came with the case. nzxy elite tower, came with an orion 400 psu. 17a on the 12. his pc scores im 3dmark seem about rite i guess 979-999 cpu points, but 3d score is only 9100. could it be the psu?

it really depends on waht drivers you are running.. for the nvidia officials, that sounds about right. get the most recent drivers (i believe that they are the 66.81s) the most recent chipset drivers, ect, and see if they go up. i broke 12k on my machine, its not much different from his.

A power supply would not be responsible for 3DMark performance, more likely I think your friend is using higher settings than what others usually test with. Have him turn off VSync, turn off AA/AF, etc.

yea thanks..not too sure what his settings were on. he also got i think 55,000 in aquamark. so he should waste on a psu? i also took the card out, put in im my sys, 2.4c@3ghz, and basically the same setup, 865chipset, 1gb ddr400, and i scored higher in both test. thats not supposed to happen is it? so i thought it was his card not getting enough juice from the psu.
