just wondering if when you flash your bios of a 5900 to a 5950 will you actuallly get the speed of the 5950 or just somewhere in between, am thinking about getting the gainward FX5900 ultra1100/tv-dvi and am looking for the most performance i can get....

Yes, it does work. I just flashed my BFG 5900 to a 5950 using the LeadTek A380 BIOS. A real 5950 has 256MB of memory, but overall performance should be pretty close.

i actually did this two days ago, works like a champ, the crazy thing was the temps went down..
my card defaults are 400 core and 850 ram, but i was running 450 and 900 on them, after the flash it runs cooler at 475 core and 950 ram.. i max oc'd it to 530/1000 but it started artifacting so bad i had to shut it off. it took my high 3dmark03 score from 6363 up to 7062 though.. so 699 points ain't bad.
just be careful and make sure you KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING before you attempt it.

i need help with vendor ID things...anyone know how to fix it? its like saying vendor id 333 or something and the leadtek one is 331...something like that

Use nvflash 4.41, not 4.46 if you have that.

nvflash -f xxxxxx.rom -u -p

Don't forget to back up your original bios!

I just did it with the 380U BIOS as well, went up 650 points in 03 and went from 440/950 to 500/980, temps dropped too.
